"Hold On Loosely" is a 1981 rock song by 38 Special and the first song to appear on their 4th studio album ''Wild-Eyed Southern Boys'' in 1981. It is the first single from the album, and made it to #3 on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks and #27 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. This song also later appeared on their 1987 album ''Flashback: The Best of 38 Special'' and their 1999 album ''Live at Sturgis''. It is also notable for having been the 13th music video to be played on the first day that MTV aired in 1981. This song is playable in the video game ''Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s'' It is also available as a playable download track in ''Rock Band 3''. This song appeared as a B side to "Back to Paradise," which was the theme song to the 1987 film ''Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise''. The song also appeared in the 2004 film, ''Without a Paddle'', starring Seth Green, Matthew Lillard and Dax Shepard. The song was made available to download on November 30, 2010 for use in the ''Rock Band 3'' music gaming platform in both Basic rhythm, and PRO mode which allows use of a real guitar / bass guitar, and MIDI compatible electronic drum kits / keyboards in addition to vocals.
